La Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan

The Semaine du Golfe, 14th edition: the great maritime festival of the Gulf of Morbihan. For its 14th edition, the Semaine du Golfe once again turns the Gulf of Morbihan into a vast playground for sea lovers. Over six days, nearly 1,400 traditional vessels (old rigged ships, classic yachts, traditional boats) sail in flotillas between islands, harbours and anchorages, following the tides and currents of this "Petite Mer" (Mor Bihan in Breton). There is no single venue: the festivities move each day across 19 communes, from Vannes to Arzon via Île-aux-Moines and Île d'Arz. From the quays or headlands, visitors watch sail parades and flotilla arrivals. On land, concerts, sea shanties, local produce and a festive atmosphere are provided by 3,500 volunteers. 💛 The Guide Gaulois' favourite One of our co-founders knows this event from the inside: a native of Vannes, he sailed a small boat amid the flotillas to experience the Semaine du Golfe from the sea. The photos on this page are his, camera in one hand, the other gripping the boat, between the swell and the choppy waters of the Gulf (you can imagine how many tilted shots that produced...). The result is worth it, and the event even more so: it is one of the most beautiful maritime festivals in France, to be experienced at least once, on board or from the shore.
